Hepatic and Biliary Disorders

Hepatobiliary disease refers to any disorder of the hepatobiliary system that prevents it from performing its usual functions. It can range from a little infection to more serious disorders such as cancer. The hepatobiliary structure includes the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts

The liver, one of the largest organs in the human body, is located in the upper right quadrant of the stomach.

It performs some of the body's most vital activities, including:

  • Production of bile juice
  • Sugars are stored using the glycogen mechanism.
  • Eliminating toxious substances from the blood
  • Producing proteins that help in blood coagulation
  • The gallbladder is a small organ beneath the liver that stores bile, a fluid necessary for fat digestion.
  • The bile duct carryings bile from the gallbladder to the small intestine
  • Threatening Factor
